Fumigated Transport Units

Here you can find important information about fumigated transport units.

The committee for hazardous substances (AGS) of the Federal Institute for occupational safety and occupational medicine (BAuA) has published the Technical Regulation for the transport of fumigated units (TRGS 512) at the end of November 2008 in the common ministerial gazette.

The TRGS 512 takes effect for activities with substances and formulations like hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid, prussic acid) or hydrogen phosphide, in case these substances will be applied as fumigant. The TRGS takes effect also for fumigation activities with methyl bromide, as far as the appropriate authorities issue exceptions, e.g. for the import and export of commodities and products or individual applications.

The primary modification is the clearing of fumigated units with a “release certification” (new annex of TRGS 512). This release certification may only be issued by a competent person. This certification can be downloaded here. To download please click here! (Only in German language)

Information on chemical hazards as well as different fumigants can be found on the homepage of the Institut für Arbeitsschutz der Deutschen Gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung.
