European GHS-regulation, September 3rd 2008
On September 3rd the European Parliament adopts the new European Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemical Products. This paves the way for new symbols and standard information aiming to afford consumers better protection against the risks from dangerous chemicals and products (mixtures). The new hazard symbols may be used by manufacturers from December 1st 2008 onwards. Please find enclosed the direct link (only in German).
2nd regulation for the amendment of the "Chemikalienverbotsordnung" on July 25th 2008
The 2nd regulation for the amendment of the so called "Chemikalienverbotsverordnung" has been published in the Bundesgesetzblatt Year 2008 Part I No. 30 on July 25th 2008. Especially, the duties for information and recording (§ 3) have changed. Please find enclosed the direct link to the ChemVerbotsV (only in German).
Revised Form of the Chemicals Act on July 2nd 2008
The revised text of the Chemicals Act has been published in the Bundesgesetzblatt Year 2008 Part I No. 28 on July 11th 2008. Changes have become necessary by the implementation of the REACH regulation. We would like to draw your attention especially on the enlarged fine rules and infringements (Sections 26 and 27b).

REACH – Pre-Registration
On June 1st 2008 the phase of pre-registration according the new EC-chemical legislation REACH has begun. Companies, which neither produce their chemicals nor import from outside Europe are, according to REACH, the so called "down stream user". Normally, they do not have to register the used substances, but the so called "down stream user" should get an overview already about the substances which are used in his company and clarify with the suppliers, if the substances must be pre-registered and therefore stay deliverable.
4th Brochure of REACH-Information published
In April the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BauA) has published the 4th brochure of REACH-Information with the title "Neustoffe und REACH" (new substances and REACH). Subject is the transition of new substances registration acc. to RL 67/548/EWG with the obligations within the scope of the REACH-regulation for substances, which are registered as new substances.
