ADR 2009 - tunnel regulation
The restriction code for tunnel will be a part in the transport documents for the carriage of dangerous goods from 2009-01-01 on. The code must be specified in capitals, if a transport through a tunnel is not excluded.
From ADR 2009 on– Tremcards in new shape
From 1.1.2009 on, the so far existing Single-, Groups- and Classes tremcards (instructions in writing acc. ADR 5.4.3) will be replaced by an unified tremcard for the driver. According to the standards of the United Nations (ECE/Trans/WP.15/195 of 28.02.2008) there will be only one tremcard. Soon the drivers will not have to deal with diverse languages any longer.

New Label "Environmentally Hazardous" in Transport Law (Dangerous Goods) - available from Nov.`08
The criteria "environmentally hazardous" (aquatic environment) must be taken into account for the classification of all dangerous goods from 2009 on. This regulation applies, regardless whether the dangerous goods are already classified in one or more dangerous goods classes. In future the criteria "environmentally hazardous" will be labelled as an additional risk in transport law. This is one consequence of the new GHS (Globally Harmonized System) on the transport law.

Database "Gefahrgut" – new version 6.1 is published
The new version of the database "Gefahrgut" (dangerous goods) of the BAM Berlin (Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing in Berlin) is published. It is availabe on CD-ROM or in the internet on www.dgg.bam.de.

24-h-Emergency-Contact-Phone
The demand for the so called 24-hours-Emergency Contact Phone for the transport of dangerous goods ascends. Transports in the USA are prescribing always a 24 hours reachable Emergency Contact Phone Number. These Emergency Numbers are controlled by test calls of the American authorities. As well the carriers in freight business (sea-freight companies, air-freight companies) check the existence of the 24-hours-Emergency Number (when mentioned on the transport documents).
New VCI-guideline for the transport of dangerous goods in passenger cars
The VCI in Germany has revised the guideline for the transport of dangerous goods in passenger cars in February and placed it in the Internet for disposal. You will find the guideline in the download area of www.vci.de.
Innovations for the transport accross the Baltic Sea
In "Verkehrsblatt" 24/2007 of 31.12.2007, the German as well as the English version of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the transport of packed dangerous goods on Ro-Ro-ships in the Baltic Sea has been published.
Transportation law - Area of application
The Federal Ministry for traffic, building and town development / BMVBS) submitted a draught for the change of the hazardous goods transportation law. In the future also the manufacturers are to be seized by hazardous goods confinements and vehicles of the area of application of this law.

GGVSee published in Germany – IMDG-Code take effect
The transport of dangerous goods by seaship is subject to the regulations of the IMDG-Code. Since 1.1.2008 the IMDG-Code by edition of the 33rd Amendment is mandatory. With publication of the amendment of the Gefahrgutverordnung See (GGVSee) in the Bundesgesetzblatt Part I of 12.12.2007, the IMDG-Code is carried into effect in Germany.
